At Smith Majestic Coons, we're not just breeders—we're a family devoted to raising healthy, well-adjusted Maine Coon kittens in the comfort of our home. Our cats are beloved family members who live freely alongside us, never confined to cages or kennels.
Every breeding cat in our program undergoes comprehensive genetic testing for HCM, SMA, and PKD. We believe in complete transparency and will gladly share all health certificates and test results with prospective families.
Our kittens are raised with early neurological stimulation, extensive socialization with children and other pets, and receive top-tier veterinary care. By the time they join your family, they're confident, affectionate companions ready for a lifetime of love.
Maine Coons are one of the most beloved cat breeds in the world, known for their impressive size, gentle nature, and loyal companionship.
Maine Coons are renowned for their friendly, sociable, and even-tempered personalities. Often called "gentle giants," they're patient with children, tolerant of other pets, and form deep bonds with their families.
Despite their large size, they're incredibly gentle and affectionate, making them ideal family companions.
As one of the largest domesticated cat breeds, male Maine Coons typically weigh 15-25 pounds, while females range from 10-15 pounds. They feature distinctive tufted ears, large expressive eyes, and a luxurious fluffy tail.
Their semi-longhaired coat is water-resistant and comes in a stunning variety of colors and patterns.
Maine Coons are exceptionally intelligent cats that can learn tricks, respond to their names, and even play fetch. They enjoy interactive puzzle toys and thrive on mental stimulation.
Many owners describe them as having "dog-like" personalities due to their trainability and desire to interact with their humans.
Maine Coons require regular grooming (2-3 times per week) to maintain their beautiful coats and prevent matting. They need plenty of vertical space, sturdy cat trees, and interactive playtime to stay happy and healthy.
With proper care and nutrition, Maine Coons typically live 12-15 years or longer.

Each kitten comes with a comprehensive adoption package including: health records and vaccination certificates, genetic testing results for parents, a starter supply of their current food, a comfort blanket with familiar scents, care instructions and feeding schedule, registration paperwork (if applicable), microchip registration information, and our written health guarantee. You'll also receive lifetime support and advice from us.
To reserve a kitten, first browse our available kittens page and contact us about the kitten you're interested in. We'll discuss your family situation, experience with cats, and expectations to ensure a good match. Once approved, we require a non-refundable deposit (typically $500) to hold your kitten. The remaining balance is due before pickup or shipping. We accept various payment methods and can discuss a payment plan if needed.
All our breeding cats are DNA tested for HCM (Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy), SMA (Spinal Muscular Atrophy), and PKD (Polycystic Kidney Disease). We also perform annual cardiac ultrasounds to screen for HCM as it can develop later in life. Only cats that test clear or normal on all health screenings are used in our breeding program. We provide copies of all test results to adopting families.
We offer a comprehensive 2-year genetic health guarantee covering HCM, SMA, PKD, and other congenital defects. If your kitten is diagnosed with a covered genetic condition within the guarantee period, we'll replace the kitten or refund your purchase price (your choice). The guarantee requires you to maintain routine veterinary care and notify us of any health concerns. Full terms are provided in your adoption contract.
Our kittens go to their new homes between 12-16 weeks of age, depending on their development and readiness. This is longer than the typical 8-week standard because Maine Coons benefit from extra time with their mother and littermates. The extended socialization period helps ensure confident, well-adjusted adults. By 12+ weeks, kittens are fully weaned, litter trained, eating solid food independently, and have received at least two rounds of vaccinations.
Yes, we offer both domestic and international shipping. Domestic shipping within the US starts at approximately $190, while international shipping starts at around $300. Final costs depend on your exact location, airline availability, and seasonal pricing. We use only reputable airlines with climate-controlled cargo areas and provide health certificates, flight tracking, and 24/7 support during travel day. We can also recommend professional pet nannies who hand-deliver kittens for an additional fee.
We encourage video calls, especially for families who live far away and can't visit in person. We're happy to schedule video tours of our cattery, introduce you to our breeding cats, show you specific kittens, and answer any questions you have. Video calls help you see our facility, meet your kitten virtually, and feel confident in your decision. Just contact us to schedule a convenient time.
Yes, we welcome cattery visits by appointment! Meeting our cats and seeing where your kitten was raised helps build trust and confidence. During visits, you can meet your specific kitten, see both parents (when available), tour our home-based cattery, ask questions, and learn about our care practices. We do require appointments to protect our cats' health and ensure we can give you our full attention. Please contact us to schedule a visit.
We feed a premium, high-protein kitten formula with real meat as the primary ingredient. Our kittens receive both high-quality dry food and wet food for variety. We also introduce properly balanced raw food to older kittens to support dental health. Each kitten goes home with a starter supply of their current food and detailed feeding instructions. We're happy to discuss transitioning to your preferred food brand if different from ours.
Yes, all our kittens are fully litter box trained before going home. They learn from their mother and by observing other cats. By 12 weeks, litter box habits are well established. We use unscented, clumping litter and recommend you start with the same type to make the transition easier. We provide details about the litter brand we use and tips for maintaining good litter box habits in their new home.
Maine Coons are one of the largest domestic cat breeds. Males typically weigh 15-25 pounds, while females usually weigh 10-15 pounds. They grow slowly, reaching full size around 3-5 years old. Size varies based on genetics, nutrition, and individual development. We can give you an idea of potential adult size based on the parents' sizes, but there's always variation. Proper nutrition during growth years is crucial for healthy development.
Yes! Maine Coons are known for their gentle, patient temperament and are often called 'gentle giants.' They typically do very well with children when properly introduced and supervised. Our kittens are raised around children and exposed to various household activities. They also usually get along well with dogs and other cats. We carefully socialize all our kittens to prepare them for multi-pet households. Proper introductions and supervision are always recommended initially.
We breed Maine Coons that conform to breed standards with excellent health and temperament. Some kittens may be show-quality (meeting strict breed standards), while others are pet-quality (minor cosmetic variations that don't affect health or personality). Pet-quality kittens make wonderful companions and are sold at a lower price with a spay/neuter contract. Show-quality kittens may be available for breeding homes on a case-by-case basis.
Our adoption process begins with an application or inquiry about a specific kitten. We discuss your family, home environment, and experience with cats to ensure a good match. Once approved, a deposit holds your kitten. We keep you updated with photos and videos as your kitten grows. Before pickup, we schedule your pickup date or shipping arrangements and provide preparation instructions. At pickup, we review care instructions, provide all documentation, and remain available for lifetime support.
We can work with qualified families on payment arrangements on a case-by-case basis. Typically, we require a deposit to hold the kitten and the balance paid in full before pickup or shipping. If you need a payment plan, please discuss your situation with us and we'll do our best to accommodate. We want to help the right families bring home a Maine Coon, and we understand that the investment can be significant.
