Our Breeding Standards

We believe every kitten deserves the best start in life. Our comprehensive breeding standards ensure health, temperament, and excellence in every generation.

Comprehensive Genetic Testing

All breeding cats in our program undergo extensive genetic testing before being included in our breeding program. We test for the three most common genetic conditions in Maine Coons and only breed cats that test clear.

Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM)

HCM is the most common heart disease in cats, causing thickening of the heart muscle. We use both DNA testing and annual cardiac ultrasounds to screen our breeding cats.

Why it matters: Early detection and selective breeding reduce the risk of heart disease in future generations.

Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA)

SMA is a genetic disorder affecting motor neurons, leading to muscle weakness and wasting. DNA testing identifies carriers, allowing us to make informed breeding decisions.

Why it matters: Prevents affected kittens and ensures strong, healthy muscle development.

Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD)

PKD causes cysts to form in the kidneys, potentially leading to kidney failure. DNA testing allows us to completely eliminate this condition from our breeding lines.

Why it matters: Ensures long-term kidney health and prevents painful, life-threatening disease.

Our Commitment: We provide copies of all genetic test results to adopting families and maintain complete transparency about our breeding cats' health status.
